With one week of the holidays down and with one to go, I resolved to make this week, fun, cheap and full of memories. So when my sister suggested we do something we don’t normally do, Formby Beach seemed like the answer.
We used to go here a lot as kids and I remember running up and down the sand dunes with wild abandonment. The same dunes that yesterday, were the source of outright misery.
My sister and I hauled four kids and a pram (what in gods name were we thinking) up and over the not-so gently undulating dunes of scorching hot sand for an afternoon of sand sandwiches, futile shade seeking, lost and found Ipods and very much lost, as in for ever, wedding rings! Seriously gutted. I keep having those moments where everything’s fine and then the reality hits, Oh no, I have no wedding ring and what’s more, I haven’t told Rob yet!
Anyway, I’m going to attempt to load up my first ever vlog. Be kind and patient – I have no clue what I’m doing.
Also note, the shift from anticipative optimism in Vlog No. 1 to despondent defeat in No.2. (First vlog lesson – learn how to string video together!)
Ok, lesson number two. Do not delete vlog from your phone before you have uploaded it. Unfortunately, my first ever vlog has not turned out as planned and is what some might call, an half-assed affair.
I will leave you with some of the photos of one of the most memorable (for all the wrong reasons) days I think I might ever have.
It started so well. Working her new sandals that, did I mention, she left on the beach.
Sunnies – check, hat – check, ridiculously heavy not-all-terrain pram – check.
When life gives you lemons, or in this case oranges, suck em.
Huddled in 1m square of shade oozing that very British trait of optimistic pig-headedness.
